“Year of the Snake” is a reflection of transformation, resilience, and the spirit of resistance. This music is for everyone who knows what it means to walk the borderlands—between cultures, histories, and identities. To my Chicano and indigenous family: this is for you, and for all who stay standing in the face of hate. This is “Year of the Snake,” created by me, Evolving Wings—a Chicano artist, both Mexican and American, and above all, indigenous. In these times where mass racism and injustice strike our brown communities—especially through ICE and unjust systems—I stand firm, proud, and unbreakable with mi gente.
